We stopped for coffee on Denver's Pearl Street, in a place where there were so many books inside that it was like retreating into a private library; it was not a bookstore that happened to have a good coffee shop, but a coffee house that was stocked with books. They seemed like perfectly good books, but their purpose was mainly decorative. Even for nonreaders, there is no getting around the fact that books can make a wall look good. Which brings me to a bookstore across the street: It sold mostly first editions and was wonderful for browsing, but impractical for those without a lot of money.
Anyone with a credit card, however, should go to Sushi Den. I'm sure it has the best sushi in Denver, and it's quite possible that it has the best within a thousand-mile radius. For dessert, visit the cupcake store.

Did I tell you about Sushi Den? You're right, that is the best sushi in Denver. Did you try the toro or firecracker roll? Drool...

What stood out for me was a Canadian crab roll topped with caviar. Then there was a pickled whole fish, something from the Gulf of Mexico.
