Word of the Day (Day of the Duvet)

A "duvet day" is a day of unscheduled leave from work, "taken to alleviate stress or pressure and sanctioned by one's employer."

The custom appears to have originated at a British PR firm in the mid-90s. In Britain, it seems that companies provide these days so one does not have to lie about feeling sick. Americans seldom have duvets, and never duvet days.
